THE COMMONWEALTH ART EXHIBITION

n 1977, Lim Tze Peng was awarded the Special Prize at the Commonwealth Art Exhibition in England, a pleasant surprise and a significant boost, given that his entry had been initially rejected by the local selection committee for not conforming to either Eastern or Western styles.

He received the Cultural Medallion in 2003.

FIRST SINGAPOREAN TO EXHIBIT IN CHINA

In 2009 he became the first Singaporean artist to be invited to exhibit in China.

MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL

In 2016, he became the oldest living artist to be honored with the Meritorious Service Medal, joining a select group that includes pioneer artists such as Cheong Soo Pieng (awarded in 1962), Chen Wen Hsi (1992), Pan Shou (1994), and Liu Kang (1996), all posthumously.
